Accurate and complete documentation is critical in the aviation maintenance process. When sending components to a repair facility, providing full traceability details such as the serial number, CSN (Cycles Since New), and TSN (Time Since New) can significantly improve turnaround time, value retention, and service efficiency. Missing or incomplete data can lead to delays, reduced resale value, and complications during teardown and inspection. Below are key reasons why including these details is essential:
Maintain Asset Value - units with an FAA 8130 or a EASA Form 1, that contain the
CSN and TSN have a higher market value. In fact, some airlines will not purchase a unit
unless the CSN and TSN are included on the last release form.
Avoid Delays - units arriving at the shop without a serial number are often
delayed whilst our staff chase the customer for the serial number.
Efficient Receiving - the visual inspection and teardown process are more
efficient when the CSN and TSN values are provided for units.
